This painting is the culmination of much thinking and fretting and experimenting and screwing up and salvaging and throwing away and clawing back. I named it “Prayer” because for me the act of painting is akin to those other two cousins, praying and dreaming. All three modes are simply different ways our consciousness gropes forward into the obscure unknowable that surrounds us at all times. The Future the Past, the Present are all equally vast in what we will never know about them. So we are left with simply living life one day, one second at a time, on a wing and a prayer.
